Commissions

When you wish to celebrate a special event, a wedding or retirement perhaps, a significant birthday, or even moving into a new home, then have you ever thought about commissioning a painting? Working with an artist, making decisions together about the subject, size, medium and framing can be a very enjoyable time as well as resulting in a really special painting, something to be treasured for a long time.

A painting commission is an opportunity to capture a place or subject that is close to your heart and  have a personal interpretation of it that will last forever. Time flies by and places change, but the painting will be there to remind you of  your favourite place/memory as if it was frozen in time. Making people happy with my paintings is probably the best part of my job and it is such a great feeling to be able to create a painting that will be cherished for years to come.

To discuss about the painting commission you have in mind, just give me a call or email me - art@melaniecambridge.com so we can discuss your ideas.  Subjects range widely and I do also offer Horse Portraits, either a head or full images. Prices generally go from £200 to £600 per painting, it depends on the size and subject. I can work from life or good quality photographs. The total process usually takes around 4 weeks but can be shorter or longer depending on the type of commission.

Here are below some examples of recent commission work to give you an idea...

Where do I start?

  • Send me an email or give me a call on 0208 660 4982 to discuss your ideas and set up an initial meeting (free of charge within a 60 mile radius of my studio).

  • Following this, I will produce at least two colour sketches based on our discussion, followed by a second meeting to present my ideas and agree what you would like me to paint for you.

  • Once you are completely happy with all the plans, costs and time deadline, you will then sign a contract and pay a deposit (20% of the total cost). If despite all the planning, you are at all unhappy with the finished painting, you have no need to accept it, but you will lose the deposit.

  • The final outcome. You receive a personalised painting and something to treasure for a long time.
